Picasso Festival 2008

To celebrate the end of the school year we worked very hard to organize the Picasso Festival for the final day of school, Friday, the 20th.
Throughout the morning the children played carnival games, visited the refreshment stand for snacks and drinks, and of course, they were finally able to spend their Picasso Tickets to buy books, games, stuffed animals and toys.

Goodbye

Hello dear friends from Spain. Thank you very much for everything you told us and showed us about your school and your life in Spain. We hope we can visit Spain someday, maybe on our holidays. We are looking forward to working with you again. Have a happy holiday!

The end of the school year

Today is a closing date at the primary school. Therefore on this
occasion an academy on which pupils of lower grades are saying the
students from sixth classes goodbye takes place, and they thank teachers for six
years of learning and teaching. We are satisfied with the end of the school year,
because we are think about holidays, travels, sun and so on. But when we
think that students from our class will attend different schools after holidays it makes us a little sad.

The primary school prom

On the 17th of June students from every sixth class had a party. It was our last disco in our school. At the party we danced and played. We could also eat. We prepared farewell presents for our teachers. The principal gave books to the best pupils. The party was very nice. Pupils and teachers were very happy but really we were sad because theese are our last days in our school. Do you have a prom in sixth class?

Our new school

On the 16th of June pupils from every elementary school in our town went to junior high school which, after the holidays, will be our new school.Our older friends showed the school to us. We could see classes and the gym. We also found what our new subjects would be. They are very interesting. We also got sweets. Everybody treated us very nice. We were smilling and delighed.

Almost the end of school year

On the 9th of June our class had a farewell meeting with our tutor. During this meeting our teacher got a present from students of our class. Later our friend read a farewell poem. During this meeting we could eat and drink. Our parents were also present.This meeting was very nice. Our tutor was very surprised. Everybody was smiling. We were delighed that we spent time together but we were sad because shortly we will be apart.

Child's Day

On 1st June we celebrated Child's Day in Poland. On that day in our school we had a day of sport. On 3rd June in the morning at 9:00 o'clock all students from classes 4 – 6 gathered on the school sports field. There were three athletic competitions: a 60 metres race, a long jump and a ball throw. There were also team competitions: soccer, volleyball and rope pulling. Later were was summary of scores. During all day there were sport emotions.

Child's Day

On 1st June we celebrated Child's Day in Poland. On that day in our school we had a day of sport. A school trip

On 19 th May students from the highest went on a school trip. We had our guide during this school trip.
On the first day of the school trip we were in the gold mine in Złoty Stok. When we were in the gold mine we found out how people excaveted gold. Later we drove to Kłodzk. In the evening we drove to hotel „Renaissance” in Dusznik Zdrój.
On the second day we were in National Mountains Board Park in Szczeliniec. There are errant rocks. Later we drove to Wambierzyce. There we went to a church and Morable Crib. In Morable Crib there were figures wound up on a crank. Later we had free time in Polanica.
On the third day of our school trip we drove early to Praga. Praga is a big town. In Praga we were on the hill Hratczana. There we visited Belweder, king's castle, beautiful king's gardens and a greenhouse with tropical plants. Later we visited a baroque church Sariour, a gothic church NMP on Tyna and a gothic cathedral of st. Wit. We were on Bridge Carol and place of st. Wacław. Next we went to monuments of st. Wacław, Jan Hus and sacred Nepomucym. Later we went to University Carol. In the evening at 9:00 o'clock we saw colorful fountains.
Every pupil thought, that the school trip was nice and eventful.

Mother's Day

On the 26th of May we had Mother's Day. On this day every mother got a present from their children. We wish our mums all the best because we love our mums. On this day every mother was happy and smiled. This celebration is very popular in Poland. Do you have Mother's Day?

Culture Week. Pablo Picasso. Madrid

In April, we celebrated Culture Week at Pablo Picasso in Madrid providing our students with an opportunity to experience new and enriching activities within our school and the community.
Throughout the week each class had the opportunity to go on excursions outside of the school. They visited the Natural Science Museum, the Prado Art Museum, the Planetarium, Hortaleza Village, and the Fire Station.
Within the school we were treated to a piano concert, a cooking class, and a First Aid Workshop.
Our main theme for the week was Chinese Culture. We were very fortunate to have so many volunteers who gave their time and energy to organize interesting workshops and exciting activities. During the week, the children made Chinese lanterns, traditional hats, costumes, informative posters and much more. Additionally, we saw Chinese Folktales told in sign language and learned Tai Chi. For the Grand Finale on Friday all of the children participated in a parade wearing the costumes they had each made in the workshops.
Culture Week was a great success and we appreciate all of the efforts of the volunteers and community members who made it possible.

Europe Day

On the 8th of May in our school there was a interscolaire team competition about European Union. This competition was on the occasion of Europe Day. In this competition teams from every primary school in our region participated. Every school had one team. There were six teams. Questions in the test were very difficult but our team was second. A long weekend

On the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of May we had a long weekend. On the 1st of May it was May Day. On the 2nd of May we celebrated Flag Day and on the 3rd of May we celebrated Constitution Day. These festivals are very important for our country. In this time we can also rest. Some pupils traveled to different places. We were delighted because we came back to school fresh and relaxed. On the ocassion of Constitution Day we had a school academy when we came back to school. Do you have important national festivals?

Noise Pollution Workshop

A special project we've been working on this year is The Fight Against Noise. It's a general objective in our school.
We are very lucky to have some special visitors who are presenting to us some interesting activities about noise.

Graduate test

All students from sixth classes wrote a test on 8 April (competence test). We came
to school at 8.30, and then teachers let us into our classes. We were very nervous.
We wrote the test sixty minutes. I think the test was simple, easier than the mock exam.
The majority of us returned sheets of paper at the end of time. Then, we went out
to talk to our friends about the test.

Easter

On the 23rd and 24th of March there was Easter. We recollected tortures and the Resurection of Jesus. We had two days of Easter but we had one week of free time. We could rest and we came back to school relaxed. On the first day of Easter we ate a festive breakfast. On the second day of Easter boys poured water on girls. On this day every girl was very wet. This day was very funny. Easter was very enjoyable. Do you have your own Easter customs?

English Language Competitiona

On the 19th of March there was an English language poviat competition. 73 pupils from 30 schools from our district participated in this competition. It took place in Administrative Center for Teacher Improvement. Our school had three representatives in this competition, they all have got high grades in English language. Our representatives had a difficult task because a lot of pupils participated in this competition. We hope that our representatives wrote a test well and that they will win.

Pablo Picasso on TV!

The Spanish equivalent to the BBC (TVE) came to school to record an episode of “Los Lunnis” a Spanish children’s TV programme so the children were very excited about being on the television. It was a special episode about the noise pollution project at our school.

Carnival

In Spain, February is the typical time for carnivals so the children from the infant classes came to school in fancy dress for a special carnival day. They danced and partied and they had a great time!

History competition

On the 4th of March in our school there was a history team competition for the students of sixth classes. The subject of this competition was history of our country. Questions were also related to Polish culture. In this competition every class had representatives in one or two teams.
In every team there were four people. Every team had a captain. In this competition there were seven teams. It was difficult because history of our country is rich in various wars and battles. The first place in this competition won team from class 6d, second place also had a team from this class, and the third place had a team of students from class 6b. Retreat

On the 27th, 28th and 29th of February pupils in all schools in our city had a retreat. Usually during retreat we don't go to school but we go to the church. We can rest because we don't have to do homework and we don't have to learn. This year we also went to the Community Centre and we watched films which were related to the life of Jesus. During the retreat we sang songs and we prayed. This retreat were run by nuns. During the retreat we prepared ourselves for the Easter. Do you have retreat? How do you prepare for the Easter?

spelling competition

On the 5th of February in our school there was a spelling competition for the fourth, fifth, and sixth classes. In this competition pupils who are good in writing dictations participated. In this competition every class for our school had a representative. Pupils wrote a dictation. This dictation was very difficult. Pupils who wrote a dictation will be rivals for the other schools to win the first place in the spelling competition. Our representatives had a very difficult test because Polish language is difficult. Do you have inter school competitions?

Elimination test

On the 12th of February in our school eliminations for the English language competition were had. Mad to select one representative of the fourth, fifth and sixth classes. In this competition only pupils who have the highest grades in English language ca take part. Our representatives for that competition are Natalia Mielańczyk (class VI), Michał Sobek (class V) and Monika Szafraniec (class IV). Eliminations were difficult. We hope that our representatives can write that test well.

About our school

Our school is seventy-nine years old. It was opened on the 6th of October. We cerebrate its "birthday" every year on the 6th of October. On this occasion there is always a solemn academy in our school. Our school patron is captain Lucjan Szenwald. In our school we celebrate every national festival. Our school is very big. In our school six hundred pupils study. They study twelve subjects. We have got twenty four classes of students. We sometimes have school trip. We have got very nice teachers. Every year we have got summer holidays and winter holidays. In our school competitions are organised. We are very busy because we have a lot of difficult tests. We finish school in June every year and we start in September.We always get our school reports. Some pupils have report with distention.We like our school because we have a lot of friends in it.

Valentine's Day

In our school Valentine's Day is celebrated on 14th of February. In our school two
students collected our Valentine's cards and they were delivered to students during
an academy celebrating this day. Students in our school love this day so we send cards
to our friends every year. 

An important mock exam

On the 7th of February in our school we had a mock test of competence for students from sixth classes. Some pupils were very nervous. We started to write a test at eight o'clock. Our dyslectic friends wrote a test for one hour and 30 minutes. We were divided into different classes. The test wasn't difficult. We hope that we wrote it well. After the test we still had some lessons. We were very tired because that day was very exhausting. This test was very important for students from sixth classes. Charity concert

Charity concert

On 10th of December teachers and students from our school organized a charity concert for our ill friends. In the concert children sang songs, danced and spoke verses. The subject of the concert was traveling. After the concert, there was an auction of paintings held. During the concert cakes were sold. Everybody was delighted. We collected a lot of money for our friends. This performance was very successful.

DAY OF PEACE

On the 30th of January we celebrated The Day of Peace at Pablo Picasso. The students from age three to twelve participated in this important day. To decorate the school they made lovely hearts and pictures of children that held hands and formed chains around the whole school and they created dove puppets that they brought to the celebration.

Back to school

On the 28th of January we come back to school after our winter holiday. We are happy because we meet friends in the class. We have got nice and happy teachers and come back to school is not bad, but we regret that it is the end of winter holiday: we could sleep long; we had a lot of free time. Winter holiday unfortunately cannot last forever.

Teacher’s Day

In Spain, Teacher's Day is celebrated on 28th of January. It is “Santo Tomas de Aquino” It is dedicated to teachers. There is holiday on this day. We thank teachers their work. Children have written “Happy Teacher’s Day!” using free software “The Gimp”, and this picture has been chosen to wish you "Happy Teacher's Day!"

Winter break

On the 14th of January winter holidays started. We had two weeks of free time. During this time we rested and played games and did sports. Some pupils traveled. On Monday 28^th January we will come back to school fresh and happy. We are delighted. We still have five months of learning.

Before the winter break

On the 10th of January we finished our first semester of education in the 2007/2008 school year. Before the holidays teachers had suggestions about our semester grades. Pupils had time to correct their bad grades. Teachers also described our behaviour. Everybody wanted great grades. We are delighted because now we will have some time to rest. We will have two weeks of tree time. In this time we will pay games, go to the cinema or visit friends. We had a lot of learning this semester

Christmas time

Christmas is celebrated on 25th of December. At school we celebrate it too. Students together with their form 
tutors organize Christmas Eve on the last day of school before Christmas holidays, we give our friends presents, 
share wafer as well wish everyone Merry Christmas. This year students from class V c prepared a show 
which presented traditional Polish Christmas Eve. When the show finished we went to our houses we already had 
Christmas atmosphere around. This was great as every year at Christmas.

Charity concert

Santa Claus' Day

On Thursday 6th December Santa Claus, devils and angels came to our classrooms. It was prepared by our school government. Everybody got a bar of chocolate. In the end we sang some songs to Santa Claus. On this day every child got a present.
